A Wedding Reception at the Barn at Gibbet Hill – Groton, Massachusetts

A recently shot an awesome wedding reception at the Barn at Gibbet Hill, one of my favorite wedding venues. Natalia and Ben were married earlier this year and wanted to share their wedding day celebration with their friends and family in New England. We were blessed with a spectacular summer day that was warm and capped off with a sensational sunset. We started the day off with family portraits then we had the introductions, first dance, speeches, cake cutting, and my favorite, dancing! As the sun was setting (and vendor meals were being served) I headed outside to capture some amazing HDR images of the Barn and the surrounding property. The Barn at Gibbet Hill has a multifunctional use. There’s two wedding venues. One is the Barn and the second is up the hill at the old mansion called Top of the Hill (I’ve never shot a wedding there and I’m willing to make a great discount to the couple who does). There is also a restaurant Gibbet Hill Grill, a real working Black Angus cattle farm, and a vegetable farm as well. It’s really an amazing property where I have produced some of my best wedding images. Yeah, I have a deep love for the Barn and the weddings I’ve had there. Here’s some of my favorite images from Natalia and Ben’s day.

FerShop a Workshop for Wedding Photographers | Bride and Groom Portaits | Boston, Massachusetts

I recently attended the Pictage User Group meeting at LensProToGo in Concord, MA. The featured speaker was Fer Juaristi from Mexico. Fer is a wedding photographer that enjoys seeing natural light, texture, and creative lines. His portraiture is really, really awesome. He is a natural talent with a great, humble, and fun personality. He’s been shooting for the last four years with a background in video. He watched a video in 2006 featuring some of the great wedding photographers of our time called Masters of Wedding Photography. This video truly inspired him and motivated him to start shooting stills.

In my research of Fer and his work I noticed that a workshop was scheduled the day after the PUG meeting. I was excited! I signed up as soon as I could. I got up nice and early that day, practiced some hot yoga, ate a healthy breakfast, and headed out on my Daytona 675 motorcycle to Boston for the workshop. Riding in the morning was fun and yes, I used my iPhone for the gps that’s mounted on the handle bars. It’s convenient and really made the ride straightforward with very little stress getting to the workshop. Once I arrived at the Ad Hoc Studio I was happy to find Fer had just arrived. Ahh, the benefits of arriving early. We had a few minutes to get to know each other and share some stories. I was impressed with his energy and infectious happiness.

Once the FerShop started Fer went over his origins, family, style, imagery, and pricing. The day was planned around discussion, shooting, lunch, discussion, more shooting, and editing. We had two models to work with, Laura and Ryan. They are getting married in February of 2012 at Aventura Spa Palace Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. They really knew how to turn on the hotness and showed us some badass chemistry. They really worked it for us, even with the hot sun in their eyes they managed to keep it cool. Thanks Laura and Ryan!

I really enjoyed attending the FerShop. It’s so fun to meet, talk, and work with other photographers. Here’s some of the images from the day that I really love. Thanks Fer! I look forward to following your work and enjoying your company again.

A Wedding and Reception at Mechanics Hall – Worcester, Massachusetts

I was looking forward to this wedding day since I met Kim and Jeff. First the wedding and reception took place at Mechanics Hall in Worcester. Second, I had the pleasure to work with cinematographer Jeff Brouillet and thirdly, I knew from Kim and Jeff’s engagement session that their wedding was going to be full of excitement. I started the day off capturing Kim and Jeff getting ready at Mechanics Hall. While they were getting ready Jeff Brouillet and his crew were capturing HD footage for a same day edit to be featured later that night. It was a pleasure working with Jeff and his crew. It’s not often that I work with a well-organized and ninja like crew.

The wedding took place inside the hall on the stage. The hall is really a magnificent space. It is lined with beautiful paintings, ornate architecture, and a beautiful organ occupying center stage. It’s really a special and exquisite place for a wedding day celebration. During the ceremony Kim and Jeff recited a set of vows that I found very touching. The ceremony was finished off with a song that was performed by their JOP.

Once the ceremony completed I captured the group photos indoors then, took the wedding party outside to create some exciting images. The reception followed shortly after and I was pleased to hear that the Felix Brown band was performing. The reception was full of dancing and great music. Jeff surprised Kim and Jeff with his same day edit. It was amazing to see what was captured and how Jeff edited the day together. Kim and Jeff looked surprised yet, in awe of the results. Personally, it was the first time that I’ve seen such exceptional work from a cinematographer, on the same day. Wow! Here’s some of the images from their wedding day at Mechanics Hall that I love. A Wedding Celebration at Tewksbury Country Club – Tewksbury, MA

I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding day celebration of Christy and Samuel. I started this sunny day capturing Christy getting ready at her parent’s house. Shortly after we headed to the ceremony at Immaculate Conception Church in Medford. The ceremony was touching and full of love. Once the ceremony was complete we headed to the reception at the Tewksbury Country Club. The reception was exciting and everyone was all about having fun. Here’s some photographs that I love from their wedding day. Also, you can see their engagement pictures that were shot at the Charlestown Navy Yard a few months earlier. Congratulations Christy and Samuel!
