The New Canon EOS 5D Mark II hands on Video

The long awaited Canon 5D is being replaced with the super cool 5D Mark II. We get a list of new features that are outstanding. My top favorite features are supah high ISO. Yes! That means cleaner high ISO images and the need for less flash beacuse of this. Yeah! I love using flash. Love IT! Anyways, we now have sraw. Yum! Live preview. Wicked! Faster processor, weather sealing, a better lcd screen, and HD video. HD video. What! Yeah video, I can imagine some fun with video but, will this turn the industry on it’s heads? Naw, I’m not to worried. I’ll still shoot stills but, I’m sure some of the wedding photographers in the world will figure a way to offer video into their coverage but, I have only a few good reasons to use it. Maybe client interviews at the end of the night for blogging. Hmm.. that could be fun or maybe some video clips for a slide show. Oh and a street price of $2699 or so. Basically, Canon came out with a pretty remarkable camera that I’m sure will be a supah hot item come the fall. Oh.. and yes.. I’m definietely gonna need one of these. I mean come on, how can I resist?

Here’s a cool video of the Canon 5D Mark II from the guys at Digital SLR User Magazine in the UK

The Barn at Gibbet Hill - Groton, Massachusetts

I recently shot a wedding with the supah wickedly cool Saucey Stacey Doyle for supah stylin studio of The Tirados. The ceremony was at The Barn at Gibbet Hill in Groton MA. I had a few firsts for this wedding. First was the bride and groom went directly to a pub they frequented in Lowell. Sweeeet! Second, as Stacey and I were scoping out the area for pictures and the possibilities of jumping this little fence and get some big scenery shoots with the bride and groom but, I happened to notice a letter electric meter. Yeah so, that means it’s electrified. No jumpin fences today. Oh well but, the story doesn’t end there. Once we completed shooting the group pictures several of the children decided to have a race to the fence. Yeah, I made sure I spoke up and said, “Hey, that’s electrified!” Well, the needless to say, one of the children was shocked but, that’s not all! We had a bridesmaid that had never heard of a electric fence. See pictures below! The father of the bride decided to show her the wonderous properties of electricity. Needless to say, she was shocked with the results..da du dunnn. The reception was totally off the hook. People were dancin, people were on other peoples shoulders, music was awesome and let’s just say spirits were high. It was a blast shootin with Stacey and our happy couple Laura & Brendan! Woot! Woot!

The Higgins House - Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Recently I shot the wedding of Stephanie and Matt’s at the Higgins House at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. The Higgins house is an old Tudor style old school mansion. We had the ceremony on the grounds, the reception was tented and the dancing was indoors. The day was mostly sunny but, the weather changed and we had a bit of rain during the speeches. One of my favorite parts of the night was the dancing and some cool shoots that the couple captured at the end of the night. Also, the bride had a friend of the family with a sweet old convertible drive them to the ceremony. Well, just the FOB, bride, and MOH. Pretty Sweet!

Connecticut State Capitol - Hartford, Connecticut

So I drive home from Kate and Chris’s wedding… in the Smaaht! Download my images, charge batteries, and clean my gear then, wake up the next morning to drive to Hartford. I meet up with Kylene and Jim for an engagement session. They both work in the state capitol and I have to say.. Wow! It’s wicked niiiice! We roamed around and got some shots inside then headed to a sweet garden just minutes away.

Blackberry River Inn - Norfolk, Connecticut

I recently had the pleasure of capturing Kate and Chris’s wedding at the Blackberry River Inn in Norfolk Connecticut. The day was beautiful and the ride out in the Smart Fortwo was bitchin! The top was down and the sun was shining! I started out capturing the pre-ceremony details such as the dress, shoes, putting make up on and getting ready. We progressed to the ceremony which was held at the Inn. The reception was held in big’ol tent right next to the Inn. Kate and Chris had my heart in mind when they selected this location. It was full of great scenery, great 80’s music, and people full of flavor. It was obvious that the moto of the day was unbridled fun, excitement and good times!
